OTEC Bikes Join Forces With Aussie Grit Apparel
Australian off-road apparel company Aussie Grit Apparel is celebrating its new association with Halton-based OTEC Bikes with a mountain bike ride in The Chilterns with former Formula One driver Mark Webber.
The event will take place on 18 April and Mark will be around afterwards to chat about all things mountain biking and off-road biking and talk about the Aussie Grit Apparel flint range.
OTEC and Aussie Grit Apparel will run a consumer promotion to celebrate the partnership on the night of the ride. The first 30 riders attending the event will receive an Aussie Grit Apparel drink bottle signed by Mark with one lucky person discovering a £100 apparel voucher inside the water bottle.
Spearheaded by Webber, Aussie Grit Apparel launched a range of high quality, performance off-road cycling apparel in early 2018 and the nine-times Grand Prix winner turned TV pundit for Channel 4 is delighted that it’s being showcased on his doorstep.
having the Chilterns as my training ground was sensational
Announcing the association with OTEC Bikes, Mark said: “This area was my home for the majority of my F1 career and having the Chilterns as my training ground was sensational, whether it was running the trails with my two dogs or mountain biking in Wendover Woods. I just loved being in the great outdoors.
“Lee and the team run an awesome bike shop, just around the corner from our Aussie Grit Apparel UK office, that understands the needs of local riders.
“We’re partnering a small number of retailers in the UK and OTEC Bikes was a logical choice because like us they’re really passionate about mountain biking and everything you need to make that experience super enjoyable.
“As a new brand, we dedicated our efforts to create an awesome range of off-road apparel from scratch, we haven’t copied others or rebadged an existing range.
“Taking that ‘no stone unturned’ approach to the creating the range meant we’ve delivered exactly what we wanted. No if’s, no buts, just high-quality garments that truly deliver on the comfort, durability and performance needed when you’re out on the trails for hours.
“With the flint range now available, we’ve identified a very small number of retail partners who we trust to support the brand; partners who are as passionate and understanding of what mountain bikers demand from top quality kit as we are. Lee and the OTEC team are exactly that kind of store.
“I’m really looking forward to going for a blast around Wendover Woods with OTEC crew and lots of their customers.”
OTEC Bikes owner Lee Niven said: “We’re a small, modern bike shop with traditional values. We are very much service focussed and I work entirely on reputation, so everything that we stock is here because I completely believe that I can sell it to someone and they’re not going to come back disappointed – that’s the bottom line. I want them to come back and say, that was awesome, thank you for the recommendation. That, and the local connection, is why we’re really happy to be showcasing Aussie Grit Apparel at OTEC Bikes.
“Fundamentally it’s a great product that is very practical for the non-professional rider, which reflects what we are all about. Personally, I think the Thermal Gilet is one of the best things I’ve worn.
“The ride with Mark is the icing on the cake. We’re really looking forward to it – though slightly nervous about him being a bit of a racer!
“One of the highlights for me recently was when Mark visited and was very complimentary about the work shop. He said it’s not far off Formula One standards and I take that as a massive compliment. We are aiming to provide something that’s a little bit better than most bike shops do, and clearly he knows what he’s talking about so that was special.”
