Aussie Grit Apparel Rides Into Corley Cycles
Australian off-road apparel company Aussie Grit Apparel is celebrating its new association with Milton Keynes-based Corley Cycles with an in-store appearance by the brand’s founder, former Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber on Saturday 21 April 2018 (details below).
Aussie Grit Apparel was launched by the nine-time Grand Prix winner in 2017 with its first range of trail running and off-road cycling apparel released in early 2018.
Webber who helped the Tilbrook-based F1 team to four F1 World Constructors Championships between 2010-2013, has long been passionate about mountain biking and continues to train and compete in events all over the world. Webber also staged many Mark Webber Challenge events in his native Australia where mountain biking was a key ingredient.
During his 12 year F1 career, Webber was a familiar face around Milton Keynes, both on two and four wheels. He lived in nearby Mursley for several years while racing for Jaguar Racing (the predecessor of today’s RBR team) and it was through one of the mechanics there that Mark was first introduced to local cycling legend and ex National Road Race Champion Phil Corley. From that point onwards, he became a regular customer at Corley Cycles.
Corley Cycles was a ‘no-brainer’ for me
“Announcing the association, Webber said: “We’re partnering a small number of retailers in the UK and Corley Cycles was a ‘no-brainer’ for me as I’ve enjoyed a long relationship with Phil and his team. So, I know from first hand experience they understand the demands riders have for quality gear to make the experience of riding in nature super enjoyable. That made Corley Cycles an obvious choice to showcase our garments.”
“As a new brand, we dedicated our efforts to create an awesome range of off-road apparel from scratch, we haven’t copied others or rebadged an existing range.
“Taking that ‘no stone unturned’ approach to the creating the range meant we’ve delivered exactly what we wanted. No if’s, no buts, just high-quality garments that truly deliver on the comfort, durability and performance needed when you’re out on the trails for hours.”
Phil Corley added: “At Corley Cycles we’ve known Mark from when he raced in F1 with Jaguar and then with Red Bull Racing. We enjoy working with him getting his bikes serviced and chewing the fat about cars and bikes. We were approached by Aussie Grit Apparel to help champion the range within the UK because we share the same ethos of quality, comfort and functionality in clothing. So far the response to the kit has been great and we look forward to a successful future together.”
