The team at Aussie Grit Apparel are thrilled to announce Elina Ussher as our first Ambassador.
Born in Finland but a long-time resident of New Zealand with husband and world class adventure racer Richard, Elina has been an elite off-road athlete for almost twenty years.
A World Champion Adventure Racer in 2001 (Nokia Adventure Race, Switzerland), Elina is also a four time and reigning Coast to Coast (New Zealand) multisport champion. Incredibly, Elina has been on the podium 9 times from eleven starts in the gruelling 243-kilometre event that includes trail running, cycling, and kayaking. Elina will aim for a fifth title this February.
ELINA WAS A NATURAL FIRST CHOICE
Elina also teamed up with Richard to compete in multiple Mark Webber Challenge adventure races held in Tasmania dating back to as far as 2006.
For the past year Elina has worked with our design team, playing a pivotal role testing prototype garments in the elements. Her feedback on the functionality, comfort, and durability of prototype garments all fed into the flint women’s range of off-road running and biking apparel, available now.
“I’ve been product testing with the team for about a year,” says Elina, “but now my role is more official it’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to continuing with the team to create great product.” She added, “I’ll also be encouraging people to get outdoors – whether that’s racing or simply enjoying off-road running and riding … and enjoying nature.
I’m looking forward to providing any tips, insights and motivations to the Aussie Grit Apparel community. Rule one is of course having the right gear!”
Mark Webber said it was “awesome” to have Elina onboard as an Ambassador.
“I’ve known Elina and Richard for many years and have the utmost respect for them as off-road athletes, and was fortunate to train and race with them in the elements in Tasmania.
“While we intend to have a range of Ambassadors who will reflect the people who love off-road running and biking, Elina was a natural first choice given her additional capabilities to assist with product testing and development. She’s done a great job contributing to the flint women’s range.”
